Born in Malacca, Malaysia, Sand T has lived in the United States for most of her adult life. Currently she resides in Malden, Massachusetts. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts. Her main artistic output is in the form of mixed media art objects. She has been actively creating and exhibiting her work for over two decades. Sand T's work resides in public and private art collections world wide. Her works have recently been added to the permanent collection of the National Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Sand T has been the recipient of numerous awards for her work in the visual arts, as well as her volunteer work in art advocacy and community building. These awards include a New England Art Award from the New England Journal of Aesthetic research 2007, grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the LEF Foundation. Sand T was nominated by her peers for a 2007 Commonwealth Award for Outstanding Contributions to Arts and Culture in Massachusetts. She was a candidate for the Malden Citizen of the Year 2003 conducted by the Malden Observer in Malden, Massachusetts, USA.
